Electroorganic Synthesis

Synthetic electrochemistry is one of the most ‘green’ and practical tools for organic synthesis, and dates back to the 19th century! There are prominent advantages to electrochemistry which make it appealing when compared with conventional synthetic chemistry, and tremendous progress has been made in the field. Electrolysis systems always involve two half-electrode reactions; anodic oxidation and cathodic reduction. However, most electrochemical transformations exploit only one half-electrode reaction, and the other is wasted. Our work has focused on the development of convergent paired electrolysis which combines both anodic and cathodic reactions simultaneously in an electrochemical transformation.
